Highgate Hill

London
2010–2011
Client: Private
Project status: Completed

The extensive remodelling of a Victorian house in Highgate as a house and gallery.

This is the home of a gallery owner who opens the house for exhibitions. The refurbishment was designed to respond both to the needs of a family home as well as to be curated as a gallery, with opaque glass doors allowing a degree of flexibility between the ground floor spaces.

A new oak floor was laid throughout the ground floor, with oak shelving and storage furnishing both house and gallery. The kitchen was enlarged and opened up, with large doors into the garden, and a rooflight dropping light down into the deep plan.

The tall stairway is also used for exhibitions, and the whole house was refurbished.
