Tate Britain - Art Under Attack

Exhibition design for Tate Britain's 'Art Under Attack: Histories of British Iconoclasm'

'Art Under Attack' investigates the changing nature of iconoclasm in Britain from the sixteenth century to the present day. The exhibition brings together a wide range of different artefacts including sculpture, paintings, books and film, from religious, political and artistic contexts.

The exhibition design establishes a clear and consistent approach to this varied range of objects, providing a continuity of display scenarios against which the complexity of the exhibition range is viewed. Objects are displayed either within appertures in walls or on plinths and in cases in the rooms, designed with a muteness to allow the objects to stand in the foreground. The graphic design by Polimekanos introduces a scale and physical scenario where necessary.
